Uranium Companies

There are very few pure uranium companies. Most companies, especially the small exploration type, are active in more than the uranium industry. This blog makes no attempt to guage the percentage of a companies activity that are related to the finding, mining or processing of uraniun. They all do, however, have some uranium activities (to the best of our review).

Merv's Uranium Indices

I have developed two Uranium Indices. They each have the same component stocks but are calculated using different methodologies. My weekly Index is based upon the average weekly performance of the component stocks. My daily Index is based upon the daily average of the component stocks open, high, low and close prices along with the daily average volume of all component stocks.

Merv's Weekly Uranium Indices 3 July 2011

Note that the Daily Index chart is based upon data till the end of trading on Thursday as the Canadian markets were closed on Friday. The Weekly Index chart is based upon weekly closing data so that a few of the component stocks, those trading on the American exchanges, were for the full week. This is also true for the weekly Table below.

Merv, can you give us an idea of what % you might enter at this stage? In other words, is this a good spot for an increase in holdings?

Since I do not know your holdings to give you a % figure would be unrealistic. I do not comment (or at least I try to stay away from commenting) on individual portfolios. Besides, I do not believe in investing by percentages. You invest or speculate in stocks you have confidence are going to go up and use whatever capital you think you are willing to risk in such investment. Do not let others TELL you how much YOU should risk. Regardless of how much you are risking, always remember to PROTECT YOURSELF from surprises and have a firm plan to protect your capital.
