BASIC NOTES

Uranium Companies

There are very few pure uranium companies. Most companies, especially the small exploration type, are active in more than the uranium industry. This blog makes no attempt to guage the percentage of a companies activity that are related to the finding, mining or processing of uraniun. They all do, however, have some uranium activities (to the best of our review).

Merv's Uranium Indices

I have developed two Uranium Indices. They each have the same component stocks but are calculated using different methodologies. My weekly Index is based upon the average weekly performance of the component stocks. My daily Index is based upon the daily average of the component stocks open, high, low and close prices along with the daily average volume of all component stocks.

Merv’s Daily Uranium Index
Market Data

Open: 162.42
High: 168.08
Low: 160.41
Close: 166.54
Volume: 4937

Note that the volume is an average volume of round lot sales for the 5 0 component stocks. For total volume, multiply by 5000.

Well that was a nice little bounce. Now to see if it continues.

The Merv’s Daily Uranium Index closed up by 4.12 points or 2.54%. There were 26 daily winners, 14 losers and 10 undecided. Cameco gained 2.7%, First Uranium gained 7.7%, Paladin gained 2.3%, Uranium One gained 6.9% and Uranium Participation gained 1.0%. The best winner on the day was Freewest with a gain of 20.6% while the worst loser was Mawson with a loss of 6.9%.

The only change in the intermediate term indicators was the short term moving average crossing below the intermediate term to confirm the intermediate term BEARISH rating.

On the short term the momentum indicator has moved above its trigger line but more importantly the trigger remains sloping downward. This leaves us with an unchanged rating at BEARISH.

The Stochastic Oscillator has made a good upside move and I’ll go with that for the direction of least resistance.
