Note that the volume is an average volume of round lot sales for the 5 0 component stocks. For total volume, multiply by 5000.
An up day but on very light volume. Where oh where is that speculative interest that will drive the prices through the roof again. I see there is one advisor out there that thinks uranium stocks are going to be the next big thing. Hope he’s right although I’m not sure what his batting average is as far as stock predictions are concerned. I’ll just stick with what the charts and indicators are telling me, or more precisely, what I THINK they are telling me.
Today the Merv’s Daily Uranium Index closed higher by 2.50 points or 1.46%. There were 22 winners, 16 losers and a whole lot of lazy stocks, 12 of them, going nowhere. All of the five largest stocks closed on the up side. Cameco gained 2.9%, First Uranium gained 0.5%, Paladin gained 4.0%, Uranium One gained 0.7% and USEC gained 2.7%. The best daily gainer was East Asia Minerals with a 12.4% gain while the worst loser was RPT Uranium with only a minor loss of 5.7%.
The Daily Index closed just below its negative intermediate term moving average line. Another up day is still needed to close above the line. As for the momentum indicator, it continues to move inside its positive zone above its positive trigger line. The volume indicator continues to move in basically a lateral path but is above its trigger line for a positive read. All in all the intermediate term rating remains at – NEUTRAL.
On the short term everything remains as it was yesterday. The Index is above its positive moving average line. The momentum is in its positive zone above a positive trigger line. The daily volume action remains pathetic. The short term rating remains BULLISH.
I guess this is where I go back to my lateral direction as the direction of least resistance. The Index is once more above its very short term positive moving average line while the Stochastic Oscillator continues its move lower towards its negative zone. Maybe tomorrow we’ll see a better idea as to the immediate direction.
