Merv’s Daily Uranium Index
Market Data
Open: 146.84
High: 149.86
Low: 141.00
Close: 145.21
Volume: 7616
Note that the volume is an average volume of round lot sales for the 5 0 component stocks. For total volume, multiply by 5000.
The Merv’s Daily Uranium Index closed just a little lower today ny 0.59 points or 0.40%. The winners and losers were 50/50 with 22 winners and 22 losers. There were 6 going nowhere. The five largest stocks were somewhat confused. Cameco lost 1.2%, First Uranium gained 4.9%, Paladin gained 6.3%, Uranium One lost 6.7% and USEC lost 0.8%. The best performer on the day was Western Prospector with a gain of 43.2% while the loser on the day was Strateco with a loss of 9.7%.
The Index seems to be in a lateral mood once again and not interested in further downside, at least for now. The aggressive Stochastic Oscillator did move below its trigger line as expected yesterday. However, it is only a very, very minor amount below the trigger and the trigger has remained positive. The SO is also still in its overbought zone so another day of negative Index is needed for this indicator to give us a very short term reversal signal. In the mean time everything else is still the same as yesterday so I’ll just cut to the chase and call both the intermediate and short term ratings as BULLISH.
On the immediate direction of least resistance I will stick with the lateral for another day.

Merv,
You previously spoke about a large cap uranium index you were developing, and how it had turned down before your other uranium indexes, possibly giving advance notice of the crash before it happened. Have you looked at that index recently? Maybe it will give a clue as to when we will breakout to the upside.
Anonymous,
After some investigation I found that although there was some differences between the large cap Index versus my normal Daily Index in the end the difference was not of a sufficient nature to continue with the Index. I have not updated the large cap Index for some time. It is not automated and time available is just too limited to continue with it. One tries new things, some work, some don't.
