BASIC NOTES

Uranium Companies

There are very few pure uranium companies. Most companies, especially the small exploration type, are active in more than the uranium industry. This blog makes no attempt to guage the percentage of a companies activity that are related to the finding, mining or processing of uraniun. They all do, however, have some uranium activities (to the best of our review).

Merv's Uranium Indices

I have developed two Uranium Indices. They each have the same component stocks but are calculated using different methodologies. My weekly Index is based upon the average weekly performance of the component stocks. My daily Index is based upon the daily average of the component stocks open, high, low and close prices along with the daily average volume of all component stocks.

East Asia Minerals Corp. (V-EAS), 26 Mar 2008

Based upon data to the close on 25 Mar 2008
Originally brought to your attention back in October, just before the sharp run-up, East Asia Minerals Corp. is one of the few uranium stocks that has not been losing ground for the past several months. This shows underlying strength and suggests that it could easily be one of the better performers once the atmosphere for uranium stocks improves. An old technical concept is that stocks showing strength during a down market are more likely to show even more strength during an up market.

The price is presently sitting almost right on top of the intermediate term moving average line and the line remains positive, although not in any aggressive way. The long term line is still solidly positive. As for the momentum, the intermediate term momentum remains in the positive zone but showing effects of a basically lateral price trend by moving towards its neutral line. The volume indicator is positive but not overly so. It is basically confirming the actions of the price activity. One would be more interested to see volume leading a new thrust into new highs. That may happen once a move gets going.

EAS is very much a stock one should keep an eye on. A move through the resistance with a close at or above the $2.00 mark would be the sign of a new move in progress.
