Over the week-end the Merv’s Uranium Index stocks underwent a significant revision. Nine stocks were replaced in the Index. Slowly but steadily I am trying to have this Index represented by the largest and most actively traded uranium stocks traded on the North American markets. As those who may have delved into uranium stocks have found, there are not that many large uranium stocks. I have reviewed over 180 stocks with uranium involvement and have zeroed in on 50 of the largest stocks by market capitalization. Two other criteria entered the picture. One was the need for at least a year of active market trading data due to the table computer program. The other was that the stock should be a relatively active trader. Stocks that may not trade for days on end were omitted. The result was the revision of this past week-end. See updated table above.
The top stocks have market values in the $ Billions. At the bottom of the list of 50 stocks the market value drops to the $30-$40 Million level. At that level we have many stocks. The Index has no room for all of them. In addition, with market activity many of those that did not make the grade may move above the level of those that did. I will not be revising the list just because some stocks may not have performed well while others not on the list may have out performed. However, I will review the list a few times a year just to keep it current.
MERV’S GAMB-URANIUM INDEX
The nine stocks that were replaced were often in the daily or weekly best and worst performer list. It would be a shame to totally ignore them or the many other small exploration type of stocks where the 10 to 20 baggers may be hibernating. I am working on a new Index to include this gambling variety. This Index I call the Merv’s Gamb-Uranium Index and will probably include 30 of these smaller stocks. The Index is only in the development stage and depending upon time limitations it may be completed later this week, or later. If you might be interested in the gambling variety of stocks keep checking the site for its introduction.
ASSISTANCE
I always welcome comments towards making this blog the most beneficial blog for those interested in uranium stocks. It is inevitable that I would miss stocks that either should be included into the main Index or might be good candidates for inclusion into the gambling Index. Suggestions are always welcome. Please sent suggestions via the comments feature or directly to me at merv.burak@hudsonaero.com.
